Summary

The New York office of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP is looking for a Human Resources Intern to support the Talent Management Department. Willkie is an elite international law firm of approximately 1,300 lawyers located in 16 offices in six countries. 

 

The Human Resources Intern will gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a law firm environment, with a focus on onboarding, recruiting coordination, and general HR administration. This is a part-time, year-round internship, and we will work around school schedules. The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and a willingness to commit a 25 hours per week with two to three days in office (preferably including Monday) for a yearlong internship through May 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Support with several routine general HR tasks such as but not limited to:
    • Enter and maintain accurate and confidential data in HR databases
    • Assist with scheduling and logistics for team meetings, trainings, and Firm events
    • Support candidate scheduling and send interview invitations
    • Assist with drafting and formatting job descriptions and post open positions to iCIMS 
    • Support new hire onboarding activities, including I-9 verification, orientation logistics, and preparation of materials
    • Process invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring proper coding and routing for approval
    • Assist in planning and coordinating internal office events
    • Manage Willkie inventory and respond to inquiries regarding Willkie-branded items
    • Serve as an initial point of contact for general staff inquiries, directing questions to appropriate team members
    • Assist with the preparation, proofreading, and assembly of correspondence, memoranda, and other documents
    • Help maintain organized physical and electronic filing systems
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with attorneys, staff, and management
  • Contribute to department-specific projects as assigned by your manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be in the process of completing an associates, undergraduate or similar degree with an interest in Human Resources
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Experience using generative AI tools a plus
  • Ability to have strong organizational and time management while maintaining a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to build interpersonal relationships
  • Previous office experience a plus
  • Ability to commit up to two to three days in office per week, for a yearlong internship.

  • Ability to sit at a desk most of the working day and walk short distances
  • Needs manual dexterity, speed and accuracy in handling office equipment
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
  • Ability to work in close proximity to other individuals
  • Ability to carry light objects, e.g., files, small objects and supplies a short distance
  • Must be able to lift, carry and move objects up to 15lbs

Pay Range

USD $20.00 - USD $22.00 /Hr.
