Summary

Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP is looking for an experienced Practice & Innovation Attorney to support the Asset Management Department. Willkie is an elite international law firm of approximately 1,300 lawyers located in 16 offices.


The Practice & Innovation Attorney will report to the Global Director of Market Intelligence and Practice Innovation for AMD and play a central role in the design, governance and execution of the department's knowledge management and practice innovation initiatives, with an emphasis on verification of AI-extracted data, prompt and workflow development, and training. The role will be primarily internally facing, partnering closely with senior attorneys in the department and the firm's business services teams to enhance quality, repeatability and insight generation across the department.


The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of experience in the asset management space, either with private investment funds and fund formation, registered funds or exposure to both.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Global Director of Market Intelligence and Practice Innovation for AMD and help oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of knowledge and data assets for the department.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of data extracted by AI solutions and resolve discrepancies.
  • Design, test and iterate generative AI prompts tailored to asset management-specific use cases.
  • Build scalable workflows for high-volume processes, including standardized playbooks, decision trees, exception pathways and escalation criteria and assist in the implementation thereof.
  • Curate and maintain clause banks, exemplar document sets, issues lists and deal point databases.
  • Oversee the maintenance of matter trackers and experience databases.
  • Deliver scheduled and ad hoc trainings for lawyers and staff on knowledge tools, data standards, AI usage guidelines and workflow best practices, while also preparing quick-reference guides.
  • Respond to practitioner inquiries by locating precedent and surfacing curated resources.
  • Where appropriate and aligned with client matters, take on billable assignments that leverage subject-matter and data expertise, including term benchmarking, surveys and fund reviews.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • At least four years of experience in the asset management space, either with private investment funds and fund formation, registered funds or exposure to both.
  • J.D. and admission to at least one state bar preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with core private fund documents, side letters and subscription agreements, as well as common LP issues, regulatory touchpoints and market terms.
  • Proven experience with knowledge management, data structuring or technology-enabled legal processes, including precedent curation, playbook development and experience or deal point tracking.
  • Facility with legal technology and research tools, together with the ability to translate practitioner needs into structured requirements and test cases.
  • Familiarity with generative AI, including prompt engineering concepts and a genuine curiosity and desire to learn and experiment with these tools.
  • Strong drafting, analytical and communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and sound business judgment.
  • Ability to manage competing timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to maintain confidentiality and a client-service mindset at all times.

  • Needs manual dexterity, speed and accuracy in handling office equipment.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.

  • Must be able to lift, carry and move objects up to 10 lbs.

Pay Range

USD $190,000.00 - USD $200,000.00 /Yr.

The salary range for this role represents the Firm's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications and location.
