Summary

Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP's New York office is looking for a Manager, Partner Training. Willkie is an elite international law firm of approximately 1,300 lawyers located in 16 offices in six countries.

 

The Manager, Partner Training is responsible for designing and executing US partner training and development programs. Initiatives will focus on leadership, business development, financial acumen, client service, and practice management skills. The Manager will collaborate closely with the Associate Director, Training and Development, the Director of Professional Development, the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Chief Planning & Culture Officer, firm leadership, practice group heads, and other key administrative stakeholders to align partner training and development initiatives with strategic firm priorities and measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy and Program Design: Create a partner training strategy aligned with firm goals. Collaborate with the Professional Development, Lateral Partner Integration, Partner Retreat, and Inclusion & Engagement Committees to tailor programs, including Partner Orientations, to newly-promoted partners, lateral partners, partners in leadership positions, and the partnership more broadly. Incorporate interactive workshops, simulations, case studies, and peer learning forums, as appropriate, as well as individual and/or group executive coaching. Leverage adult learning and behavioral science principles to drive adoption and skill transfer.
  • Analytics and Impact: Conduct ongoing needs analyses using qualitative and quantitative inputs (e.g., performance data, partner feedback, client metrics, matter economics, inclusion and engagement and talent indicators ) to develop targeted learning objectives and development pathways. Define KPIs and success metrics for partner training initiatives, and use data to refine programs, demonstrate ROI, and provide reports to firm leadership.
  • Vendor and Faculty Management: Select and manage external facilitators, executive coaches, and content vendors. Negotiate scope and budget, and ensure quality and consistency with firm culture and standards.
  • Governance and Compliance: Coordinate with Risk and General Counsel teams to embed ethical and compliance considerations into training, and ensure consistency with firm policies, professional responsibility and confidentiality obligations, and client expectations.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Coordinate with the Associate Director, Training and Development and the Director of Professional Development to assist with other training and professional development initiatives, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in law, business, organizational psychology, education, or related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in learning and development, leadership development, or talent management, ideally within a law firm, professional services organization, or other complex stakeholder environment.
  • Demonstrated success designing and delivering partner or executive-level training with measurable impact on business outcomes.
  • Strong command of professional services economics (pricing, realization, leverage models, matter profitability), business development practices, and client lifecycle management.
  • Expertise in adult learning methodologies, instructional design, coaching, and facilitation for senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills; credibility with senior partners and firm leaders.
  • Analytical orientation with the ability to translate data into insights and action; proficiency with learning analytics and reporting.
  • Experience managing external vendors, coaches, and faculty; budget and project management proficiency.
  • High degree of discretion and judgment; ability to navigate sensitive partner dynamics and confidential matters.
  • Commitment to inclusion and the development of a diverse leadership pipeline; experience embedding inclusion and engagement principles into training content and delivery.

Pay Range

USD $160,000.00 - USD $180,000.00 /Yr.

The salary range for this role represents the Firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications and location.
