Summary

Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP is looking for an Environmental Analyst Intern to be based out of our   U.S.-based offices, with the option of working fully remote or hybrid. Willkie is an elite international law firm of approximately 1,300 lawyers located in 16 offices in six countries. 

The Environmental Analyst Intern will work within our sustainability program, Willkie Green. The intern will be responsible for identifying and assisting in executing plans to reduce the Firm’s environmental impact. The ideal candidate will have strong interest in Environmental & Sustainability career path. Interns will also have the ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain confidential information at all times.

This is a great opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in a law firm environment. The ideal candidates should the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be willing to commit 12 to 15 hours per week, for a~ 6 month long internship with flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with monitoring, measuring and reporting on performance metrics to assess effectiveness of our sustainability program.
  • Oversee data collection and data upload from a wide range of sources (energy, transport, waste, food services, etc.) using our Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Support all processes required for completing accredited environmental certifications, ratings, and assessments including CDP, TCFD framework, EcoVadis, ISO 14064, and more.
  • Researches and identifies ideas and opportunities in support of expanded sustainability efforts.
  • Supports Willkie Green by helping to facilitate and implement sustainability initiatives across offices (Earth Day, eco-Challenges, etc.).
  • Contribute to internal environmental communications including intranet page and awareness events.
  • Work with team members in the US and European offices, supporting and contributing to environmental initiatives.
  • Attend Law Sustainability Alliance sponsored and other industry webinars.
  • Other duties directed by the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Eligible candidates must be a current undergraduate student in Environmental Studies/Science, Sustainability, Geography, or related majors.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Skilled in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Knowledge and/or aptitude with various technology programs and platforms.
  • Ability to work autonomously in remote locations.
  • Ability to be proactive and recognize opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.

ADA Requirements

  • Ability to sit at a desk most of the working day and walk short distances
  • Needs manual dexterity, speed and accuracy in handling office equipment
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
  • Ability to work in close proximity to other individuals
  • Ability to carry light objects, e.g., files, small objects and supplies a short distance
  • Must be able to lift, carry and move objects up to 15lbs

Employment Status

  • Non-Exempt - Hourly

Pay Range

USD $19.00 - USD $21.00 /Hr.

Pay Range Statement

This position is a part-time hourly role and benefits eligibility will be more limited. Candidates should direct questions about benefits to the hiring manager for clarification as needed.
